Day 4 Reflections

Day 4

1. Entering the tunnel, how did you feel while going through the obstacles faced in the tunnel, what can you say to the Vietnamese people who lived in the tunnel?

I felt very tired, my legs were going numb, it was extremely tiring and I felt worried when it started getting tired, but then I realised that this was just a daily task that the Vietnamese soldiers faced so I felt more relaxed. The Vietnamese should've been very physically strong and tolerant as they did this every day during a war.

2. Compared to Singapore, what values can we learn from the Vietnamese that could overcome the obstacles?

We can learn from their determination and the courage to do it. With determination, we are able to overcome the obstacles as we constantly try to find a way to solve a problem or go past an obstacle, and we must have the courage to do so. The Vietnamese were determined to protect their country and were brave enough to risk their lives to fight the Americans.

We can learn how adaptive they were to the things that happen. The Vietnamese was able to survive underground and lived in a rather harsh environment. They adapted to it and managed to survive in it. Singapore should be like that, able to survive whenever something strikes us.

3. How do you believe that the Chu Chi Tunnel itself could've benefited yourself for your learning. State 2 habits/values that you have brought back to Singapore with you.

The Chu Chi Tunnel taught me that determination and courage would be able to get me somewhere. The Vietnamese were brave and persistent, which let them win the war against a big and powerful country like America. Death was so close to them but yet they were not afraid. They chose to fight for and protect their country. If I were to do that, I will be able to achieve my goal too. I have to be determined to go after my dreams and be brave to do so.

I chose this as it showed the life of the soldiers and the tough life they've been through.

1) Entering the tunnel, how do you feel about the experience of the Vietnamese people while going through the obstacles faced in the tunnel?

b) What can you say about this vietnamese people who have lived in the tunnel

I think that the tunnel was very cramp,hot and small. It was very tiring as i had to move while squatting.The Vietnamese had persistence and tolerant,as they had to stay inside the tunnel while in war.

2) Compared to Singapore, what values can we learn from the Vietnamese that could overcome the obstacles?

we could be more persistence as the Vietnamese put up a fight to prevent the americans from conquering Vietnam .we can be more diligent,as the vietnamese use scrap materials from bombs to make other traps.

3) What are two values which we can learn from the Vietnamese that could be applied to our own lives?

perseverance and resourcefulness.

Cu Chi Tunnel

1) Entering the tunnel, how do you feel about the experience of the Vietnamese people while going through the obstacles faced in the tunnel?

I felt tired crawling in the tunnel.The tunnel was dark and cram and is hard to move in the tunnel.They were hardworking to move through the tunnel

2) What can you say about the Vietnamese people who have lived in the tunnel? (i.e. what are some key qualities that they embodied which helped them to overcome the odds?)

They were determine, persevered, courageous, resourceful and adaptable.They did not surrender and stay to fight the american and protect their land.

3) What are two values which we can learn from the Vietnamese that could be applied to our own lives?

Determination and perseverance in doing things so that we do not give up

Cu Chi Tunnel (Cornelius Lee)

1) Entering the tunnel, how do you feel about the experience of the Vietnamese people while going through the obstacles faced in the tunnel?

I feel that they felt very tired to crawl in the tunnel and it is difficult for them to crawl as I believe that they were tall so they need to lie down to crawl in the tunnel.

2) What can you say about the Vietnamese people who have lived in the tunnel? (i.e. what are some key qualities that they embodied which helped them to overcome the odds?)

They are perseverant, full of courage, very resourceful and Smart  

3) What are two values which we can learn from the Vietnamese that could be applied to our own lives? 

To be resourceful and smart. It is so that I can be smart to use the resource around me and be resourceful.

4) Share a photo on Cu Chi Tunnel which resonates with you the most.

This shows that the people in the war only have this little food to eat during the war.

Day 4 reflection

The tunnel is really dark and after a long time it could probably get claustrophobic. If you are going through it quickly you'll need to be careful or you'll hit your head or scrape your shoulder. It can also be very tiring running while crouched.

They are persistent and very fit to run through the tunnel and they are very determined for them to spend so much time underground. They are also very innovative in their trap building and using the parts of U.S bombs into smaller bombs for them to use.

Determination can help us when we face hard to overcome obstacles, just like the Vietnamese living in tunnels to fight the U.S soldiers. Innovation can help us solve problems with new solutions, just like how the Vietnamese used U.S bombs to make other bombs.
